Debian on your Intel SS4000-e
Dezember, 2011
Let's see what we got.......
- 400Mhz Intel Xscale i80219 CPU (ARMv5)
- 4 SATA Drive Bays 1,5GB/s
- 256MB DDR SDRAM (1Gig MAX supported)
- (more info on http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/ss4000-e/sb/ss4000...)
Let's see what you need
- Screwdriver
- Soldering Iron
- an old rs232 cable or a male rs232 connector
- a DL10 connector( i took one of the front-panel-connectors out of my PC so be creative..)
so for my first part we need to get some console access on this bad boy. so what we gonna do is we take off the case first. to do that just remove the screws on the backside of the case and slide off the top of the case. you're holding it right if you see the RAM. next to the RAM you'll see a 9-Port Connector (left side). thats where you put the cable if your done soldering. check the image for infos on how to connect the cables right.... Part 2 will be about connecting the NAS to your PC and starting the Debian Installer through(mincom, hyperterminal or whatever you use for that) HAVE FUN SOLDERING
